If you think that the mainstream news media is independent, unbiased, and has the best interests of common citizens at heart, consider this:
The 9th
largest company in the United States, AT&T, controls CNN.
The 33rd
largest company in the United States, Comcast, controls NBCUniversal,
which controls NBC and MSNBC.
The Sulzberger
family controls the New York Times Company, which controls the New
York Times. 17% of the New York
Times Company is owned by the 7th
richest man in the world, Carlos Slim from Mexico (worth
$67.4 billion).
The 55th
largest company in the United States, The Walt Disney Company,
controls ABC.
The world’s
richest man, Jeff Bezos ($150 billion), controls the Washington
Post. He is also the Chairman and CEO of the 8th
largest company in the United States, Amazon.
The 34th
richest person in the U.S., Rupert Murdock, and his family control
21st Century Fox, which controls Fox Broadcasting. They
also control News Corp., which controls the Wall Street Journal.
Sumner Redstone, who
reportedly was worth $5 billion in 2015, controls CBS.
The largest
newspaper publisher in the United States, the Gannett Company, owns
USA Today.
The
social media giant and 76th
largest company in the United
States, Facebook, is controlled by its
chairman and CEO Mark
Zuckerberg. Zuckerberg is
reportedly worth $55 billion.
Video
streaming
giant YouTube is controlled by the 22nd
largest company in the United States, Alphabet (formerly Google).
As
of 2016, the social
media giant, Twitter, had 319
million monthly active users. It was the largest source of breaking
news in the United States on election day, 2016.
Fast
growing social media site, Instagram, is owned by Facebook. (See
above)
Do
you think that the individuals who control these companies have the
best interests of common citizens at heart or do
they only care about their
own best interests? Do you think that the news and information
disseminated by the mainstream media
are
unbiased or are they for
the benefit of those who control them? Do you think that our
tax laws are enacted
for the benefit of common citizens or for the benefit of the wealthy?
When
the United States was founded in
the late 1700s, most of its
inhabitants were engaged in farming
or other small business
ventures—fishing, trapping, hunting, tradesmen, etc. The
Constitution they ratified
reflected those times. However, I believe that when
the Industrial Revolution of
the late-19th and early-20th centuries occurred,
so did a different type of
revolution.
I
believe that some of the new,
wealthy industrialists soon
began to realize that
if they worked together and with some of the already-existing wealthy
people, they could subvert
the Constitution of the
United States (and
eventually the entire world) for
their own benefit, which they
did.
They
did so by
purchasing controlling
interests in many
of our sources of news and information; by purchasing
controlling interests
in many of our sources of
entertainment; by buying
off many of our elected
leaders and installing their
own minions into political office;
and by
installing many of their minions into our educational, judicial,
financial, medical, business, legal, etc. systems.
Having
such unfettered control over our lives allowed those wealthy
oligarchs to fabricate bogeymen against whom we had to created and
maintain gigantic militaries and wage war. That
began with the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (U.S.S.R.) and is
currently against various contrived “terrorist” groups. In
1960, even outgoing President Dwight Eisenhower warned us about the
“Military-Industrial Complex.”
So
do not buy into the common belief that the mainstream media are
unbiased sources of news and information.
They are owned and controlled by oligarchs who have usurped and
destroyed our freedom and who
surreptitiously have
taken over the world!
